Chemistry

 For class you will need a notebook, a calculator, and something to write with.  As we do some of the lab activities, I may ask you to bring in some common household items.  This class is a fast paced class.  You will need to review the in-class material daily, as well as do the out of class assignments.  We will do a chapter every 3-4 days.  This includes testing time ... so, you see the pace at which we will move.

I expect you to read the material before I get to it in class, and you need tobe prepared to ask questions if there is something you do not understand after I have covered it.  We will also have quizes over elements, ions, symbols, and charges every week.  More on that the first day of class. On page ii in your book is a website address and password which will get you to additional explainations, additional problems, and additional material if something catches you interest.

Biology

For this class you will need a notebook and something to write with.  Many of you may find index cards helpful for the vocabulary.  This class is fast paced and we will cover a chapter in 3-4 days including testing.  Many times we will start another chapter the day befor you take the test on the previous chapter.  Tests will not last the full class period. Plan on working on the next chapter after you finish your test.  There are a fair number of labs in this biology book.  we will be doing most of them.  Second semester we will do disections.

I expect you to read the material ahead of class, then listen to the lecture for the highlights.  Doing it the other way often leaves you unable to ask questions about unclear material.  You will also be doing the questions in the book for homework.  I will work with you the first few chapters to help you learn how to study from the end of chapter questions. on page v of your book, there is a website address and a password to find additional help and aditional information on the material being presented if somthing really is of interest to you.

Below is the Study Guide for the final.  You will receive a hard copy on Tuesday May 3, 2011 if you come by to see me and on Thursday if you do not.

Physics Book Online

For class you will need a notebook, a calculator, and something to write with.  I will be posting activities that need to be done outside of class on the web site.

I may ask that you bring in different materials for labs as needed.  These will come up in class.

We will work at a pace of one chapter every 2 weeks.  Some of the tests will be take home tests.  These are to be done by you!  You may ask me questions for guidance.  You will need to do the homework problems every night if you want to do well.

“Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD. The fruit of the womb is a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand
of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth. 5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;
They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.” Psalm 127:3-5
