As we started in class, you are to create a thesis statement and sentence outline on the theme of the story which is: "When you do the right thing, you will be blessed." From there, you need to create your rough draft.
Study for your test Tuesday.
Cole, Caleb, & Brandon need their week 6 tests signed.

I have a few questions.
What are you looking for in a thesis statement? Can the thesis statement be anything he chooses or does it need to work FOR the reading, in and of itself - as it is? Are you looking for a basic main idea or an argument (which may not be supported by the reading)? Can you provide me an example using "The Struggle for an Education"?
Also, are you providing a "theme" for each story, in class/on the board and Cole is not writing this down? If so, I need to know. I think he thought he could come up with his own theme.
With regard to what is posted here, does the thesis statement need to be incorporated with the outline on the theme?
I am getting confused just reading this post lol! Sorry! I am sure that you have addressed some of these things in class. Can you fill me in with the details?
Thanks!

Thank you so much for asking! I DID go over every one of your questions thoroughly with the class for an hour on Thursday. I passed out a three-pages paper of notes that we, as a class thoroughly went over, highlighted, & made notes on last week together. Cole was told to place these thesis notes in his binder. Please look there for detailed examples of what he is to do on writing a thesis statement.
Every week we, as a class, thoroughly discuss the story, the setting, the theme, and the characters. Apparently, Cole isn't writing down any of it.
I have also given very detailed notes on what each type of outline- topic or sentence- should include. Those, too, should be in his binder!
Let me know if you have any more questions! :-)
